Foundation Repair
Foundation Underpinning
Unlike traditional concrete-based solutions, our steel underpinning system extends beyond the problematic soil beneath your home.
Here, steel piers are driven into the soil beneath the base of the foundation until they reach stable soil. At this point, the foundation can be leveled and permanently secured.
Blue Maxx Basement Systems offers permanent solutions for stabilizing and leveling homes, with a 25-year written transferrable warranty for all foundation stabilizing and leveling projects.
Foundation underpinning is the process of reinforcing a building’s foundation to stop further sinking and settlement.

Foundation settlement can cause serious damage to your home, common symptoms include:
- Cracks in drywall, brick, or concrete walls
- Sloping or uneven floors
- Jamming, sticking doors and windows
- Cracking, sloping, and heaving basement floors
Blue Maxx uses an industry-leading steel pier system to stabilize, lift, and level homes with settlement issues.

Foundation Piers (Helical and Push Pier System)
Our foundation piers are designed to transfer the weight of your home to load-bearing soil or bedrock, permanently stabilizing your home’s foundation.
Blue Maxx uses two primary styles of foundation piers – Push Piers and Helical Piers.
Push Piers utilize high-strength round steel tubes, driven hydraulically into the soil below. A foundation bracket is secured against the existing footing and pier sections are driven hydraulically into the soil until load-bearing soil or bedrock is encountered. At that point, the structure is lifted, and the weight of the structure is transferred from the unstable soil to the pier system.
Helical Piers are “screwed” into the soil using mechanical equipment before the structure is transferred in a similar manner as Push Piers. And, as with push piers, helical piers can lift a sunken foundation back to its original position.
Both pier types are designed to provide a long-lasting solution and are often used in conjunction with each other to suit project-specific requirements.

Cracking and bowing foundation walls are often caused by hydrostatic pressure in the earth surrounding your home.
Once cracking occurs, pressure from the soil along your foundation walls can cause numerous issues.
The Blue Maxx team has decades of experience repairing cracked and bowing walls. Our systems are minimally invasive, and we straighten cracked/bowing walls during the installation process – which provides immediate results when paired with exterior excavation.
We use PowerBrace– a foundation wall repair system that’s designed to stabilize failing basement walls. This system can be used on foundations made of poured concrete, concrete blocks, or wood.
Wall bracing projects are often completed with crack repair, external waterproofing, and weeping tile repair.

Using Helical and Push Pier – Steel Pier System
When building a new structure or repairing an existing one, the only solutions that work are those that can extend past troubling soils into stable, load-bearing soil or bedrock.
Also known as “screw piles”, helical piles are driven into the soil to ensure that the weight of your structure is permanently stabilized and supported.
Helical piles can be used for:
- Foundational repairs including sinking and settling
- New construction of homes and buildings
- Supports for patios, decks, and porches
- Leveling additions including sunrooms
Helical piles can be driven to soil depths much deeper than traditional concrete piles, protecting from shifting and settlement for the life of the structure. This system can be used for almost any structure.

Crawl Space Repair

Crawl Space Encapsulation
A moist, musty crawlspace is not something that you want under your home.
Without a protective barrier between the dirt or unconditioned concrete, excess moisture, water vapor, and soil contaminants can cause serious damage to your home and your health.
Crawlspace encapsulation is the process of sealing off the entire crawlspace with a durable vapor barrier to eliminate moisture and odors, and save on energy bills. Our CleanSpace vapor barrier is specifically designed for this application. This durable membrane lines the floors and walls of your crawlspace, keeping all moisture out without deteriorating due to storage or foot traffic.
This is often installed as the last step of a crawlspace repair or remediation project.
CleanSpace comes with 25 year performance warranty from the manufacturer and is compatible with other crawl space products, i.e. can be installed in conjunction with spray foam, rigid board insulation, drainage matting, and radon mitigation systems.
Crawl Space Drainage
A crawl space should never be wet. If you notice water in your crawl space, it’s necessary to find a solution to prevent further damage.
Blue Maxx specializes in crawl space solutions and offers a wide range of drainage options including sump systems, perimeter drain systems, drainage matting, and more.
Major steps to fixing water in a crawl space:
- Sump pump installation
- A drainage system may be required if there are major water problems
- Vapour barrier installation to seal off space, prevent odours and moisture
- A dehumidifier to control humidity and prevent mould growth

Crawl Space Dehumidification
Many crawlspaces need a dehumidification system in addition to encapsulation to draw excess moisture away.
Our SaniDry systems are designed specifically for basement and crawlspace applications and are able to draw moisture from the air even at low temperatures.
Featuring high-efficiency air filters, this system captures mold spores, dust mites, debris, and pollutants while collecting significant amounts of moisture from the air.
The Blue Maxx Basement Systems team will work closely with the homeowner to determine the extent of the issues, and then provide you with a non-invasive plan to address the issues.
New Builds

ICF Foundations and Homes
ICF stands for “Insulated Concrete Form”, and they are the future of construction.
ICF blocks provide superior insulation and foundation strength by pouring concrete into rigid insulation “forms” with reinforcing steel.
The forms lock together to create strong and efficient structural walls for foundations and homes.
ICF benefits include:
- Lowering energy bills by up to 80%
- High performance R-values that do not downgrade with time
- No air infiltration, minimizing dust and allergens
- Design versatility
- Higher wind, fire, and impact resistance
- No maintenance requirements
Improved energy savings make ICF foundations the perfect choice for our harsh Canadian climate. Acting as a thermal barrier, ICF structures allow buildings and homes to retain heat more effectively. The same factors that prevent heat and humidity from getting inside are what keep your space comfortable during the summer. Homes built with ICF walls require about 44% less energy to heat and 33% less energy to cool than homes built using traditional methods.
ICF walls provide a continuous barrier of foam and concrete, cutting air infiltration by up to 70%, and eliminating cold air drafts and outside allergens. The thick multi-layer blocks also provide sound barriers to keep your home quiet.
ICF blocks are treated with flame retardants, and so ICF foundations can withstand high temperatures much longer than traditional wood framing. Constructed with non-organic materials, ICF buildings are not vulnerable to rot or deterioration. Steel reinforcements are buried in concrete ensuring that it will not rust or corrode.
ICF construction is compatible with virtually all home designs and floor plans. Once built, ICF homes look the same as their traditionally-framed counterparts, while boasting superior sound and air quality, energy efficiency, and cost savings.
Blue Maxx Basement Systems has years of experience with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), striving to implement efficient building practices that maximize homeowner value.
